Our Business Information Services customer is the world's leading source of commercial information and business insight with a proprietary database that has information on over 130 million businesses. They were in need of implementing a new eCommerce platform that could support multiple storefronts, support digital fulfillment of goods, and provided a suite of easy to use tools that could be used by business users. They selected WebSphere Commerce as a platform and then turned to Alliance to help support the implementation and rollout of this platform leveraging their offshore application development services.

WebSphere Commerce provided the majority of the functionality our client required out-of-the-box, however there was a significant amount of custom Java development that needed to be performed to extend base features of the platform.

Alliance assembled a team consisting of 6 onsite resources and over 25 offshore resources to tackle the implementation and extension development requirements. Alliance collaborated with client engineering teams during the Analysis and Design phases, and then organized into a development cycle that called for 30 day development sprints.

Over a span of 24 months Alliance released incremental functionality and production releases. This approach helped contain project risks and provided a flexible SDLC framework that could easily adapt to changing priorities and direction from the client business sponsors.

This platform has now been in production for over 12 months. It supports three separate business segments generating over $100M in annual revenues. The platform provides a consistent customer experience across all three business segments and has been optimized for multi-channel cross selling and promotions. This platform supports a subscription and transaction purchase model where users can purchase subscriptions as well as purchase reports and company profiles ala cart.
